Day 22: Brintons
5:45 am. That is what time we had to BE at the Tube station by. But that was only the beginning: tube ride to the train station. 2 hour train ride (the ceiling at the train station was awesome). 1 hour bus ride (courtesy of Brintons). Arrival. Once again, due to the secret process of their product making, photography was not allowed. Brintons is one of the worlds most elite and high end carpet companies. They design and sell only to high end designers and projects. They have done about 80% of the hotels in Las Vegas and around the world, and if you've been on a cruise recently: you've walked on their work. We toured the factory in bright yellow safety vests, and got a first hand look at how it's all created. It was eye opening, and fascinating. Then, we met and heard from the design manager, as well as some of the designers on the staff. We got a behind the scenes look at the archive library (hundreds of years old, and amazing), they presented us with Brinton flash drives, and they even served us lunch. It was about a 14 hour day, and then we endured the same process to get back home. We were simply exhausted: It was so interesting to get a perspective of what goes in to good design. I love all aspects of it, but it is such an opportunity to really appreciate and understand what makes design the best it can be.
